The resentment over the allocation of 19 seats has been gearing up in AAP Punjab unit as there are workers and leaders who are not happy with few names in the list.
Himmat Singh Shergill, the AAP legal cell in-charge who had fought the Lok Sabha election from Anandpur Sahib Constituency got the assembly ticket from Mohali.
However, the AAP Mohali wing is not happy with the name of Shergill as a candidate for the constituency. It is learnt that the Mohali AAP unit was expecting a candidate from the party hailing from the city and though Shergill is a prominent leader but the city unit has shown resentment over his candidature.
Even the AAP Punjab convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur has shown his resentment over the allocation of tickets to few candidates. Though he has not named the candidate but he is not satisfied with the party’s final approval of few names in the first list.
Chhotepur had not attended the press conference of the party during the release of the first list and the party leaders did not hesitate to release the list in his absence.
Another senior AAP leader Hardeep Singh Kingra who was the strong contender for the assembly seat was also ignored by the party. Finally, Kingra had quit the party prior to the official release of the list.
Kingra had termed the AAP Delhi leaders sycophants and he had fired the salvo at Gurgesh Pathak for ignoring the AAP Punjab leaders while taking decisions of the party.
The AAP candidate from Bhatinda Rural seat, Rupinder Kaur Ruby has been facing criticism by the party workers. The party workers of her own party fired salvos at Ruby as they did not recommend her name in the list of suggested probable candidates for the assembly seat.
Ruby openly admitted that the inner-party differences have been creating because of her candidature for the seat. She told that in a press conference.
A group of AAP opposed her candidature and burnt effigies of Ruby at Sangat Mandi.
The youth wing of the party led by Tarsem Singh Pathrala burnt the effigies and raised slogans against her. The circle in charge Rajpal Singh opposed Ruby’s candidature. He said that he is not revolting against our party but they want a suitable candidate from their constituency.
The party leadership has been trying to cover up the resentment but it seems that party workers may say good bye to the party if the party would not consider the list of the candidates again.
